- Callaway County's roster is one of the fuller ones in this group: 119 people on the day it was opened, each with booking number, booking date and time, charges with statute codes, and the bond amount. It also offers a 48-hour release view. The sheriff attaches his own disclaimer that the office cannot certify the accuracy of what is posted and that readers should not rely on it alone.
- The bond_info check fails in a way worth stating precisely. The county publishes what each person's bond is, and publishes nothing about how to pay it. A family reading the roster learns the number and not the procedure.
- The capacity check fails: a live head count is published, a rated bed capacity is not.
- The sheriff's office runs its own domain, callawaysheriff.org, which is first-party. No Callaway County government domain surfaced in search, so the commission, its minutes and the county budget could not be examined at all.
- Missouri has no state jail inspection. No Missouri state agency inspects county jails: the Department of Corrections operates and inspects state prisons under RSMo chapter 217, and that authority does not reach chapter 221 county and city jails. The Missouri Sheriffs' Association publishes non-binding jail guidance and runs jail-administrator training, but it is a private association of sheriffs, not a regulator. The only statutory mechanisms are local and lay - a grand jury visit under RSMo 221.300, and a county board of visitors under RSMo 221.320 to 221.350, which RSMo 221.350 requires to report yearly to the county. RSMo 58.451(1)(5) requires notice to the coroner of a death believed to have resulted from an injury or illness while in the custody of the law or while an inmate in a public institution.
