- Mitchell County publishes nothing about its jail on its own site — not the name, not the address, not a roster, not a bond procedure. The only public record of the facility found is the state's.
- TCJS listed Mitchell County as a non-compliant jail after an inspection on 27 March 2026. The notice names the facility "MITCHELL COUNTY JAIL" and cites: fire prevention plan and life-safety equipment (annual inspection overdue since October 2024, fire panel in Trouble Mode with a missing detector); tuberculosis screening plan; regular observation by jailers (bunks covered with blankets preventing verification of inmate presence); and sanitation and staff supervision (multiple non-functioning toilets, showers and sinks, inoperable kitchen hand-washing stations, intercom malfunction).
