Notes on the record
- San Saba County is on the TCJS non-compliant jails list. The notice of non-compliance dated 2 July 2026 cites five standards: 261.143(b) — "The water to the building has been turned off, rendering it impossible to verify that 261.143 is being met"; 263.41 — no emergency training or drills in Q4 2025 or Q1 and Q2 2026; 263.42 — last fire inspection 12-14-24, out of compliance by a year and a half; 263.50 — "On the day of inspection the generator failed to start"; 263.56 — no weekly or monthly emergency power tests since September 2025.
- Against a rated capacity of 12, TCJS recorded 10 San Saba inmates housed elsewhere and none held locally on 1 August 2026.
- The county itself publishes none of this. The inspections check fails because the finding is on the state's site, not the county's.
- The bond_info check passes on the Sheriff page's "APPROVED BAIL BOND COMPANIES" list — six named companies with agents and phone numbers, plus an invitation to apply to be added. It is a route to posting bond rather than a full instruction sheet.
