Both are state judicial officers, not county officials - the county pays part of the cost but does not choose the judge. A judge, not the sheriff and not the jail, sets bail. - roster: the county posts dated Daily Booking Log and Daily Inmate Roster PDFs rather than a live search, and cites RCW 70.48.100 for doing so.
- contracts: marked no on the rate half of the test. The county does disclose which agencies it holds people for - DOC, Stevens County, Adams County, Border Patrol and ICE - which is more than most counties publish, but no rate appears.
- budget: the Ferry County 2024 Final Budget is a 118-page scan in the county's own website file store. Its index lists "Jail & Jail Criminal Justice" at page 25 and "Sheriff" at page 34. We found it through search rather than through a navigation link; no budget link appears on the Auditor or Commissioners pages.
