The Judges
Washington Superior Court judges are elected in nonpartisan countywide races and District Court judges in nonpartisan district races. Both are state judicial officers, not county officials — the county pays part of the cost but does not choose the judge. A judge, not the sheriff or the jail, sets bail. Notes on the record
- The county's 2025 Final Budget Report carries a 'County Current Expense-Jail' fund and 'Care & Custody of Prisoners' salary, benefit and operating lines, so a detention budget is published even though it is not presented as a stand-alone jail budget document.
- The county publishes no PREA material, no death-in-custody information, no inspection or accreditation result, no bail-posting guidance and no phone, video-visit or commissary rate card.
